Organic Pastoral Resource GuideTHE ORGANIC PASTORAL RESOURCE GUIDE Download the final version of the second edition here (3 MB). Hardcopies are available from the Soil & Health Association. Please email the office to order your copy. The concept of this guide, being a multi-authored collation of existing knowledge, has remained the unchanged from the first edition. The design and content of this resource guide has been shaped by the experiences of practicing organic farmers. Rather than being a ‘technical manual’, this resource guide will give farmers a range of ideas and organic management options. It has four main sections: soil and soil fertility, pasture and cropping, livestock (including animal health) and the environment of organic farms. Besides extensive information on animal health of dairy cows, this second edition now contains information on organic sheep, goat and beef management to make this resource a more all-round pastoral guide. Also new in this manual is an extensive section on crop production. The Environment section contains the latest information on climate change and options for sequestering carbon. The second edition of the organic pastoral resource guide has been made possible through funding from the Sustainable Farming Fund. |
